ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
Camille A. Smith,
PhD, DD, DM, RCH, spent
her life researching how to overcome ineffective parenting, starting at age 14.
After many years of experience in support groups with countless faces on the
same quest - to get beyond nature's bind that is keeping us stuck - Dr. Smith
took action to resolve the dilemma. She discovered how to "re-parent"
ineffective coping styles using The 7 Secret Steps that lead us to the
life-path that has been waiting within us the whole time. From her extensive
work, she earned doctorates in Counseling Psychology, Divinity, and Metaphysics;
is an Ordained Minister; and is Board Certified as a Registered Clinical
Hypnotherapist/Analyst.
She is the epitome
of what Toni Burbank, Executive Editor for Bantam Books, describes in Book
Editors Talk to Writers, "What really turns me on is that the author
has in some way been preparing all of his or her life to write this book. There
is a tremendous commitment on the author's part to this book. That commitment
will evoke a mirroring commitment in me. That's publishing at its best."
In 1990, Dr. Smith
left the demanding Corporate
Executive life for the Food Service Division of Campbell Soup Company where she
was one of only three women in top management. She had previously also served as
Western
Regional Manager for a similar division of Litton Industries, and was their
first woman hired in sales. However, she persevered in her new quest and created a successful
career in the field of Psychology. Her research endeavors also earned her doctorates in the fields of her
dreams, which included Divinity and Metaphysics, and Take
Back Your Power! was born.
During her
successful business career, she not only managed the Western United States for
two Fortune 500 companies, but also created and produced corporate seminars,
conventions and trade shows, receiving acclaim for her public speaking and
teaching abilities. She won awards from top food service corporations for her
outstanding sales/marketing skills. (She also attended night school, seminars,
and groups to further her interest in psychology; co-authored and produced a
seminar in Denver, Colorado entitled Going Beyond Your Limits that was
later used by several major corporations; and, her poetry was included in the
book, Group Therapy for the Adolescent, by Norman Brandes, M.D.,
published by Jason Aronson, Inc., NY.)
After
leaving the corporate world, she became involved in support
group re-parenting, counseling in private practice, and helping battered women
and children revive their inner spirit that was so beaten down
they had lost hope. In 1998, she began assisting Dr. L. Luce, Ph.D., with the
rehabilitation of abused children through the State of California Department of
Social Services. Her work book, Take
Back Your Power!, is used in her
current groups to empower those entrapped by the invisible fear barrier, to take
action and breakthrough to their hearts desires.
Dr. Smith is a
member of The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation;
American Association of University Women; Business and Professional Women's
Association. She has been acclaimed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in the West
and was honored in the Who's Who of Executives
& Professionals, and is included in the Dictionary of International
Biography, International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England.
